The last day of August

Good morning.

Wow, August 31st.  Summer flew by but then again not.  I always think of this day as Rebecca's 'fake birthday' because when I was pregnant with her, I had complications, and this was the day I was scheduled to have a c-section and welcome her into the world, but she had other plans - and to this day she's still a planner!  Her real birthday is Sept 12.

Wanted to share my (only!) layout in the newest issue of Scrapbook and Cards Today. I'm a bit overdue posting this, but it's a photo and a layout I love, and probably my favourite article to date because these are the photos I love so much, the authentic ones:

And the S family.  Wow, very entertaining bunch! Not often I shoot all-adult families - what a breeze! Mom wanted all black and whites to go with the whole beach/water theme and I love how they are turning out:

World Photography Day

Did you know that today, August 19th, is World Photography Day?

I know for me, photos are so very important. As a scrapbooker, the trendy products will come and go, but the stories and the photos, they're forever.

I also feel peaceful when I'm behind my camera. With all the ups and downs in my life lately, my camera is like a safe haven. I haven't picked it up enough lately, but when I do, it's like spending time with an old friend :)

So grab your camera and celebrate this amazing gift, to be able to capture a moment in time, to see things quite literally from a different angle, and celebrate World Photography Day!

Hello world. . .

It's been awhile, hasn't it? Over 3 months to be exact.

My world kind of imploded there, but I am climbing back out, or at least trying my very best to.

I don't mean to be vague, I'm just not one to share personal details on the old www.  Those of you who have come looking for me via email, thank you very much :)

I do miss blogging, though.  Not a whole lot going on creatively, but I do have a few things to share. I can't guarantee that I'll be blogging regularly, but I'll try to post when I have something to share, so to those of you who have stuck with me through this extended break (hi mom!), thanks.

I did a couple of shoots over the last few months, this one was particularly fun.  There were supposed to be 6 of them, and when I showed up, there were THIRTEEN!  Anyone who has ever done a shoot with teenage girls can tell you it's a bit like  herding cats, especially when there are that many of them! 

But eventually they started taking direction really well, relaxing,  and the outcome is that they are very pleased with the shoot, as am I.  Here are a few I really liked:

 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 

This shoot was a gift from Rebecca to three of her best friends who have graduated and are heading off to University next month.  Congrats girls, and and good luck!
