Monday again, huh?

Had a great weekend. Great. Good friends, good times.

What did you think of the Oscars??  I'll be back tomorrow with my favourite dresses!

Today, I wanted to share something really fun with you!

As most of you know, I have the priviledge of working with Scrapbook and Cards Today Magazine. Catherine and Becky are such a creative force and really really have their finger on the pulse as this industry reinvents itself. First, a spectacular magazine, that's free. Then, the wonderful calendar and now. . . .

 
Cardmaps Today is a  brand new limited run speical issue being released with the Spring 2011 issue.  It features 80 new Cardmaps by Becky Fleck and some of the most gorgeous cards I've ever seen!!

Mark your calendars, March 25th is going to be a great day!

Being Grateful

This blog is kind of frivolous, and hopefully upbeat and inoffensive. Every now and then, it takes a serious turn, but for the most part I like to keep it light- I know the personal avenue works for a lot of bloggers, but I'm not one of them.

Like anyone else, life has its challenges, but instead of dwelling on them I've really tried to keep a running mental list of what I'm grateful for:

1. that the days are finally, finally getting longer.

2. that the water damage that happened over a year ago to our kitchen ceiling is a thing of the past.

3. that I have really good snow tires because this year I've needed them.

4. that I love the colour we painted our bedroom.

5. that I have a wonderful book club whom I sincerely enjoy spending time with!

6. that we always have food in the cupboard and lots to choose from.

7. that even though gas prices are rising, I can always fill the tank.

8. that my mom is  off on a big trip with friends - Bon Voyage, Mom!

9. that my husband works so hard and is always looking for a way forward.

10. that we have a PVR and I can PVR the Kardashians (yes, I'm that shallow, people; sorry!)

11. that the vacation we booked so long ago is getting that much closer.

13. that my daughters are being raised in a world where nothing will hold them back.

14.That today is Thursday, my favourite day of the week!

15. That you guys stop by here to hear what I have to say - thank you!

Honeysuckle

So a few weeks ago, Pantone announced that Honeysuckle was their Colour of the Year:

 

Quite a departure from last year's very popular Turquoise

 

Personally, I lean towards the turquoise, but I have to say I am loving the Honesuckle; it's a gorgeous shade of pink, not to 'princess', not too 'hot', no flourescent undertones; I think it's lovely. Clearly, I am not alone, because Honeysuckle is popping up everywhere:

OMG a Honeysuckle kitchen! Can you imagine? How decadent!

 

And I really love how people aren't quite ready to say goodbye to Turquoise so they are combining the two:

 

 

Ranunculus have quickly become one of my favourite flowers; they are not easy to find here so I may try planting some bulbs this summer, aren't they gorgeous in all their honeysuckle glory?

Good Morning, how was your weekend?

Spring is a month from today, technically! Bring it!

Fingers crossed I have the 'posting with photos' glitch straightened out!

Some randoms early this Monday morning:

1. Happy long weekend to almost all of you but my readers in the Maritimes. Hiss boo. We need a February holiday too!

2. I am loving this Mixed Up Alpha at 2 Peas - oh the possibilities!

6. Had the pleasure of Rebecca's company to run my errands on Saturday morning, and we popped into Old Navy. Everything wa so spring-like and fun. I picked up this jacket which will be great for if/when spring ever arrives here:

Thought it would be cute with a jean skirt and flip flops - again, when spring gets here or when we go on our long awaited vacation in April!

Awards Show Style!

Good morning!

You may not know this, but many years ago, in a land far far away, before I was married or had children, I worked in the fashion industry. It was fast paced and cut throat and exciting and difficult; it taught me the true meaning of a full day's work!! We would go weeks without seeing daylight if we were working on a line break.

Flash forward many (many!) years later, and I still love fashion.

I also, as you know, love movies.

Awards show season combines my love of both!

Here are a few lovely dresses that have caught my eye so far:

Mila Kunis wore this stunning Vera Wang gown. LOVE the green, I love jewel tones so I hope we see more of this:

And I thought this Calvin Klein was fantastic, the colour, the simple shape, the cut:

How was everyone's weekend?

Did you watch the Grammys?

We had some long-awaited ceiling repair and painting done - so glad that's over but man does drywall dust make a mess!

I wasn't able to access my computer for much of the time, so blogging might be a bit sporadic this week. It did, however, allow me time in my scrapbooking room where I've listed a few things on Kijiji. I'll share the listings a bit later in case anyone is interested!

I did see 2 movies this weekend, 1 at home and 1 in the theatre:

 

Thoroughly enjoyable. I now understand why Colin Firth is cleaning up!

 

Alright. This one was scary.as.hell. Seriously! I love a good paranormal movie, and it's poised for another sequel.

It's Thursday, and if you're a regular reader of "every little thing" then you know it's my favourite day of the week!

It always amazes me, when I check my blog stats, that hundreds of people can check my blog yet I usually have no idea who does, unless they leave a comment.

Don't get me wrong, I am thrilled that there are people out there who care about what I have to say (thanks Mom!), especially since this started out as a photography/scrapbooking blog, and although I still chat a fair amount about photography and scrapbooking, and I think the majority of you out there are scrapbookers, you never know!

Mid-Week Random Ramblings

Good Morning!

I think I am going to make Wednesdays my random ramblings day!

1. Movies.

Like them? Hate them? Couldn't be bothered?

I love movies. Going to the theatre, watching them at home, you name it!

Thought I'd recap what I've seen lately:

A) The Black Swan

 
I honestly don't know what to say. I've never seen a movie quite like it. I didn't love it; I didn't hate it. Her performance was convincing, the movie was very dramatic. It was weird. It stayed with me for days afterwards; not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing. Really glad Rebecca abandoned ballet when she did, though!!

B) The Fighter

 

Loved it. Christian Bale was hearbreaking, Mark Wahlberg very convincing, loved the supporting cast too. Those sisters! Yikes. How many ways can you spell dysfunctional??

C)  The Social Network

 

Excellent. Jesse Eisenberg was outstanding. I know there's a lot of talk about what's true and what's not and at the end of the day only a handful of people will ever know that, but it still makes for a great story.

D)  True Grit

 

Loved this! Didn't know if I would because I started watching the original and it was pretty hokey, but it was great.  Sad scene with a horse, those still get me, but great movie.

E) Case 39

 

This one had promise, it really did, it started out strong and hello? Bradley Cooper in a scary movie? I'm in! But, like most 'thrillers', it disintegrated very quickly.

There were a few more that are escaping me at the moment; I'll add them to my list next time!

Although, if they have to roll Boston Rob out for a 4th attempt at the million bucks, I think the show might just be in trouble?
