Beautiful boys!

Good Morning!

Sometimes I miss my little photography business. I really miss newborns. I know a lot of people think they are tough to shoot, and I would agree, but there is something so wonderful about a new baby that is good for the soul.

Last fall, right before the cold weather hit and we knew winter was on its way, I had the chance to snap a few pics for a very special friend and her extremely charming and dapper little guy:

 

Used the same  'shoot the blank canvas and add cute word art later!'  technique here:

The main reason for the shoot, however, was this:

 

And about 5 weeks later, they welcomed this little guy into the world - what a perfect Christmas gift:

 
 

He was so sleepy and so easy to move around, and mom brought a few cute hats to use. I can't decide which was my favourite - the sock monkey or this one:

And he thought that his big brother was about the most fascinating thing around:

What's in your makeup bag?

How was the weekend?

Did you get your GLEEK on?? Happy with the Superbowl outcome??

 I made some room progress, I'll share pics when there is something worth sharing! It's painted - woo hoo!

I love happening upon blogs when the author shares what's in her makeup bag.

I love products, and make up and all things girly, and with 2 teenage daughters, there is never a shortage of any of it in the house!

So, here are a few of the products I use:

 

Biosilk shampoo and conditioner  My scalp gets really dry in the winter, so I indulge myself with higher end shampoo and conditioner. So far, I am not loving the Biosilk. Redken Smooth Down would be my shampoo and conditioner of choice, but I buy my hair products at Winners so I take what I can get!

 

CHI flat iron spray - love this stuff!

 

L'Oreal Studio Secrets Primer - I had my doubts about this stuff. My skin is very challenging in the winter, lots of TLC, and this stuff is lovely, it goes on like butter but without the shine, and no flaking :)

 

 

Bare Minerals Fairly Light in Matte and the Mineral Veil LOVE this stuff. I hate liquid foundation, always have, but this stuff I love. A wonderful sales girl at Sephora convinced me to try it a couple of years ago when I was lamenting my highly reactive and sensitive complexion. I haven't looked back.

 

Sephora Collection Colorful Mono Eyeshadow in Marie  I also have a grey but 80% of the time I wear this shade - neutral with just a bit of sparkle.

 

Annabelle Smudgeliner in Rich Chocolate I was devastated when Revlon discontinued by favourite eyeliner ever. Still looking for a perfect replacement, but this isn't bad.

 

Almay One Coat Mascara in Black I am a sucker for mascaras and try a lot of them but usually come back to this one.

 

MAC Lipglass : my favourite colour is Lust but I have a few different ones. Again, sucker for lipgloss, I usually have 1/2 a dozen or so floating around in my purse!

And that's about it! Do you have a must-have make up product? I'd love to hear about it!

A bit of a drive by post here, some random thoughts, a brain dump if you will:

1. Rebecca was inspired to make this for her friend Robyn's 17th birthday:

 
 We saw the image on  Pinterest and in case you're wondering, that's a double layer red velvet cake, with chocolate icing, 39 kit kat fingers and 3 large bags of assorted M&Ms!! It was super easy to make and so cute.

2. I am missing Khloe on the new show. She is by far the most entertaining, and she and Kourtney are much closer than Kim and Kourtney. Geez, I sound like I know these people - time for an intervention?? Can't wait for Khloe's new show:

 

3. For some reason, the girls and I watched The Road to El Dorado on Saturday night! They hadn't seen in it about . . . oh, ten years? They thought it was hilarious that the main characters get drunk and smoke cigars, and that they hadn't noticed that at the tender ages of 8 and 6!

Winter Formal!

Good Morning! Happy February!

Are you as happy to see the end of January as I am? (and no, it had nothing to do with a certain birthday. . .)

I featured one beautiful daughter yesterday, but did you know I have a second one?? I say that tongue-in-cheek because Rebecca really dislikes having her picture taken. Ironic, perhaps? Almost cruel I think! But, when there is a crowd I use it to my advantage, hee hee.

Winter Formal was held back in December and what a day! We were supposed to have quite a few of the kids over for pre-dance photos. Mother nature decided to intervene and sent a storm our way, and knocked our power out!!

Thankfully it stayed on at the school.

We relocated to a friend's house (who still had power!) and shot some pictures very very quickly, because precious time was lost after fumbling around in our very dark house trying to find the dress, the shoes, the jewelery, the make up - you get the picture!

So here is what I got:

Someone referred to them as Gordo, Lizzie and Miranda and it absolutely cracked me up.

Does anyone get that reference??

 

Anyways, so pleased with the pictures I did get, even if there weren't very many.

And because you ask and I always forget, yes, I did use  my external flash for each shot which was a challenge. I know exactly how to use it in my house, but shooting in the house we were at was completely unexpected!

Last year's winter formal night was stormy too.

Next year, I'll be prepared!
